Smoky-voiced Kathleen Turner returns as romance/adventure novelist Joan Wilder in this sequel to Romancing the Stone. In this bit, she and her companions are captured aboard a train by a ruthless dictator who is pursuing a holy man (the true Jewel of the Nile) so he can take his place in the hearts and minds of the local tribesmen and assume total power. In the dungeons below his estate, Joan and Jack are strung up over a bottomless pit with goat's blood coating the rope holding Jack aloft (being the favorite food of the dungeon's rat population) and slow acid being dripped over Joan's rope. Smarmy little Ralph who has been following them both believing the Jewel is a gemstone rather than a person, forms the unlikely rescue party.
