Rachel McAdams plays Irene Adler in this new grittier take on the classic detective. As Holmes and Watson struggle to unwind the complex puzzle of an old enemy's apparent resurrection in a slaughterhouse, Irene is revealed hanging from her chained wrists on the conveyor belt, cleave-gagged as the mechanism starts up leading first to a series of gas-fueled flame jets and then to a band-saw. Holmes and Watson spring into action to save her.
