In this episode about an investigation at a Catholic college, Holly Robinson Peete plays Officer Judy Hoffs in this opening bit where she has volunteered to be subject of a live class demonstration about torture and duress and how others react to viewing it. Judy sits tied to a chair with a single rope strand around her body and arms and blindfolded, while the professor menaces her verbally and finally with a baseball bat. Later, relayed as a flashback during a rousing speech to a group of Central and South American immigrants, Kamala Lopez plays Marta who tells the story of her wrongful imprisonment and the cruelty of her captors. She is shoved into a jail cell manacled, with a burlap sack over her head as the guard toys with her by aiming a pistol at her head and firing it dry. He does so again before removing the sack revealing Marta tightly cleave-gagged with a filthy cloth, her face dirty and bruised but still defiant.
