Penny Singleton plays Blondie Bumstead in this classic comedy based on the long-running comic strip. After her hubby Dagwood discovers a fireproof paint, he is swindled out of it by a competing firm before he can make a successful demonstration. Blondie later finagles a job as a stenographer in the bad guy's office and manages to smuggle out a can of the stolen paint, but when she tries to replace it with a can loaded with regular paint tainted with gasoline, she is caught red-handed. Blondie is dragged off struggling and briefly hand-gagged ( but she bites the man, good for her). As Dagwood and his boss anxiously await their next chance to demonstrate the paint, Blondie is gagged over-mouth and tied securely to a chair so the baddies can dash off and perform their own. Blondie struggles in her bonds to no avail, but fortunately for her the secretary she replaced returns, finds her and unties her.
