In this classic Disney film, Hayley Mills plays Nikky Ferris who encounters danger and intrigue in a small village on the island of Crete while on vacation with her aunt. Nikky is captured when the story she spins to explain away her snooping to the lead suspect in a jewel robbery comes apart. The man drags her into an old Greek temple and after finds a shirt stained with blood, confronts the poor girl about what she really knows. Later a village boy Nikky had befriended is riding his donkey past some windmills and hears Nikky screaming (after seeing a rat). The girl is tied up inside and the door is locked. Fetching help, the boy bravely rides the rotating blades of the windmill to save Nikky.
