In this early prison picture, after an inmate dies from her injuries inflicted during interrogation by the prison's cruel Head Matron, the other ladies organize a revolt, using scissors taken from the prison laundry as shanks and the old "Guard, I'm sick" ploy. They quietly capture the guards ( played by Gertrude Michael, Mae Clarke, Mary Newton and an unknown actress), gag them and lock them in a padded cell after three of the inmates don their uniforms so they can move around the prison unnoticed.
