Jennifer Love Hewitt once more plays medium Melinda Gordon who feels mentally compelled to rifle through a leather bag containing artifacts from the execution of a murderer, including the hangman's noose and the black cloth bag that was put over his head. The bag suddenly wills her to shove it over her head and she experiences the murderer's last moments as he's led to the gallows, in a leather harness, handcuffs and leg shackles. Melinda is escorted to the top of the gallows where her ankles are secured together with a belt, the noose is put around her neck and the bag put back in place and she's hanged-- waking up looking at an effigy of the hanged man.
