Brigitta Stenberg plays Maria Romburg who may or may not be the grand daughter of an elderly German toy shop owner who's been forced to hide some gold by the Stasi (the East German secret police) . The Stasi agents come to reclaim the gold and so MacGyver is left tied to a chair upstairs (not shown) while the old man and Maria are taken to the basement. Maria is gagged and tied to a pipe with the old man as witness as boolt after bolt is fired at her from a pistol crossbow to force him to talk. Initially he refuses to cooperate. But memories of his grand daughter's kidnapping at the Berlin wall make him break down and tell the baddies where he's hidden the gold...
