In the opening moments of this episode, Lex Luthor has kidnapped Lana Lang (played of course by Stacy Haiduk) and is dragging her by the arm gagged into a mine with Superboy in hot pursuit. Lex holds Lana hand-gagged and ambushes Superboy with a chunk of green kryptonite. In the ensuing tussle a rotten beam begins to give way and naturally Superboy steps up to keep it from breaking, but the kryptonite has sapped much of his strength. Thinking only of himself, Lex lobs the kryptonite at our hero, shoves Lana aside and tries to escape, causing a cave-in leaving all of them in mortal danger.
