Notorious Hollywood gossip Hedda Hopper inspires the Clampetts to make a silent movie melodrama entitled Little Orphan Elly, casting Granny (played by Irene Ryan) and Elly May (played by Donna Douglas) as damsels in distress, threatened by evil banker Mr. Drysdale. Thwarted by Honest Jed, Mr. Drysdale recruits a dance hall girl to talk Jed into handing over the mortgage money, meanwhile Granny and Elly May are tied up in the bedroom. Jed sets things right with Jethro's help and the ladies are saved.
