Paula Peril: Midnight Whistle is the fourth live action movie adapted from the graphic novel series The Adventures of Paula Peril, published by Atlantis Studios. It features the exploits of a courageous and sexy investigative reporter fighting to expose crime in a corrupt city of criminals!
This film is being directed by Jason Winn, the award-winning director of The Fat Boy Chronicles, a feature film being released by Melee Entertainment, adapted from the acclaimed teen novel. Jason also directed the popular narrative short Last Bullet, which has received numerous awards including Best Short Film and Best Director.
"Everyone was impressed with Jason's diverse work, and we're excited by the vision he is bringing to the story", said series creator James Watson, "After several months of intense pre-production, it's exciting to see Paula Peril's latest adventure move forward. Midnight Whistle is the most ambitious story we've attempted so far, so it helps to have Jason at the helm."
The film series is a labor of love for all involved: a low-budget, independent series developed for the comic book fan market. It is scheduled to begin shooting in June 2011, and currently has a modest production budget. However, it needs additional funds to achieve the ambitious goals of the screenplay. The entire film will be filmed during ten days of primary photography in the Atlanta area.
When Atlantis Studios produced its first live action movie, Trapped in the Flames (2007), it gained an international following, due largely to the casting of the stunning Valerie Perez (Universal Dead) in the title role. Two subsequent films, Mystery of the Crystal Falcon (2009) and The Invisible Evil (2010) each built on the previous films' success, and grew the international popularity of its cast of characters.
