51st century war criminal Magnus Creel has escaped into the Victorian Era and assumed the identity of a Chinese god, in order to use a Triad as his personal army and secure victims for his experiments. Having contracted a wasting disease from his experimental time machine, he now needs the life essence of young human women to keep himself alive. In the final episode, companion Leela (played Louise Jameson) is trying to figure out what household items will make suitable weapons against the Triad when they attack, when she's chloroformed from behind and overwhelmed. The good Doctor is of course unruffled by the appearance of the lead baddie and his minions and manages to secure her safety as well as a safe escort to their lair with fragile final component Magnus needs to repair his time machine. Leela recovers and follows behind. At the lair, Leela attacks Magnus but is quickly captured and tied up inside the device Magnus has been using to feed himself. When she continues to taunt him, she's gagged as well. The good Doctor saves the day of course.
