Shocking, lurid, and tawdry these are just a few adjectives used to define the nature of the Detective Magazine cover. But before there was a Harmony Concepts or any of the other resources we have in the internet age, this was the go to source of Damsel in Distress images. Poor girls bound and gagged wearing flimsy, brief skirts and blouses or even less, in the clutches of psycho killers or other criminals. It didn't matter if the cover had nothing to do with the content, the picture made you want to pickup that issue and buy it (or at least thumb through it.)
