The cops come to suspect a reporter on the crime beat is a mole working for the syndicate and so they set intrepid reporter Vicki Logan (played by Irene Hervey) to keep an eye on him. She shows him a trick for listening in on the commissioner with his own intercom system, but it's really a trick to feed him false information to give to his bosses. he tries to leave on some pretext, but Vicki doggedly tries to stay with him and so he lures her into a supply closet, hand-gags her and ties her to some pipes, and gags her with a white hankie. Vicki struggles fruitlessly and then sets up a nearby sink to flood all over the floor to hopefully draw attention to the closet...
