In this rather disturbing episode from later in the series run (after Mulder had left the show), Agent Dana Scully (played by Gillian Anderson) is surrounded, overpowered and captured by some townspeople who appear to worship a crippled homeless man-- or rather what's inside of him. He's beaten to death with a crowbar and a wriggling alien slug is extracted from his corpse which the cultists then implant in Scully's back despite her terrified protests. Scully is kept tied face down on a bed inside a house while the alien symbiote moves and attempts to merge with her body, but when a car unexpectedly pulls up to the house she's gagged with a rag stuffed in her mouth, tied in with a bandanna. Scully kicks over a lantern and starts a small fire to try and summon help, but is unsuccessful. Or so it appears, until Agent Dogget punches out her guard and rescues her ( the alien thing is cut out her back later -- yuck !! )
