A simple report of foxfire in a small rural town uncovers a hidden cult of cannibalism, putting Agent Dana Scully (played by Gillian Anderson) in danger. She's clubbed over the head and knocked out and later seen being taken with hands bound in front and gagged with duct tape to a bonfire meeting in a field. However, one of the locals objects that the cult has turned on its own people instead of strangers, to the point of drawing gun; but he's disarmed, overpowered and beheaded. Then it's Scully's turn and she's forced to kneel and her head locked in a metal bracket. the crowd parts as the masked ax man closes in to do the deed. Mulder arrives in the nick to save the day.
