Chloë Grace Moretz plays Jillian in this modern comical take on the classic fairy tale. At the beginning of the film, our boy jack has a heroic rescue fantasy about his school girl crush, and after breaking into a secure vault, he finds Jillian with her hands manacled up high above her head, dressed in white. He fights off some absurdly armed ninjas and rescues her. Later, at the top of the beanstalk Jillian, Jack and their friend the uhhh.. "Goose" are attacked, wrapped and bound by animated vines that emerge from a confusing fog. Unable to break free, Jack decides to tear the pages out of the magic book recording their adventure, effectively resetting the clock. Meanwhile back on Earth, Jack's Mom (played by Katey Sagal) has chained herself to the base of th beanstalk to keep the idiot mayor from cutting it down and thus preventing her boy from coming home.
