Natalie Portman plays Inés in this dark historical drama in which the famous painter Goya falls into scandal after his muse falls prey to the Spanish Inquisition and is accused of heresy. In this clip, Inés is questioned intently by some priests after it's suggested she refused to eat pork during a meal, and therefore must be a heretical Jew. When her pleas of innocence are met with scorn the priest offers her a chance to prove her innocence irrefutably and naturally she's glad to comply. Inés is next seen strung up nude strappado style, with her arms twisted up behind her back, hanging at least 5 feet off the floor as priests leer at her. She's lowered onto her tiptoes and questioned again, but finally in desperation she asks to confess to anything to make the pain end.
Afterward, a priest comes to see her in her cell as she crouches naked on the straw covered floor, shackled to the wall by one ankle. He covers her with his cloak. Inés begs for freedom but he says its not in his power. He offers to pass a message to her family and to pray with her, but he's more interested in fondling the helpless girl. He returns later and feigns having sent a message to her family and claims they are working for her release. He offers to pray with her and once more is only interested in groping her.
