In this extended clip from the romantic comedy caper, Rosanna Arquette plays Lucy, a frustrated waitress at a trendy restaurant who longs to be the next lady Houdini. In the first bit she sets up an escape shackled and manacled with heavy chains with a noose around her neck and a bit of pineapple in her mouth (to prevent using her teeth). but there's trouble and she nearly hangs herself, fortunately the hook holding the rope gives way and she falls to the floor but has to call a neighbor to unlock her shackles. The man affably helps her to escape, but after some banter he handcuffs himself to her through the bedrail for the night. Afterward, she tries her luck at a talent show audition, and is once more shackled hand and foot and tied up in a huge canvas sack. After several minutes, squirming, rolling and thrashing she fails the escape and her would-be beau has to carry the poor crying girl off the stage and cut her out of the sack.
Later, our leading man an other woman hatch a plan to rob the high dollar restaurant they all work at and plan to use Lucy's escape stunts as a distraction, but to that end they compel Lucy to practice practice practice. First she's bound up in a leather straitjacket (which she manages to escape after some whining and wheedling), afterward she's closed up in a large canvas bag and vocally going step by step how to escape. before being dunked in a bathtub for a genuine attempt.
Finally at the restaurant, Lucy is straitjacketed, shackled, tied up in a bag and the sack is hung from a hook which will then slowly lower her into huge fish tank...
