In this dark British melodrama, Stephanie Beacham plays Miss Jessel who has fallen under the spell of Irish laborer Peter Quint and so allows herself to be tied the the bed on her belly spreadeagle with ropes, and whipped across her back, as well as bound into an uncomfortable hogtie on the floor before making love. Their sadomasochistic tryst is spied upon by a young boy who then returns to the manor house and in the morning ties up his sister Flora ( Verna Harvey) on her own bed spreadeagle and hogties her with a very long rope as well ( not as creepy as it sounds).
