In this extended clip, Samantha Eggar plays Miranda Grey in this classic, tragic thriller in which an icy detached banking clerk and butterfly collector decides to turn to collecting women instead. He blocks a narrow avenue with his van, grabs and chloroforms Miranda when she tries to sidestep past it. He puts her in the van, binds her hands with a strap and takes her to his distant home in the country where he lays her out on a prepared cot in cellar room he has set up for her.
Later he tells her he only plans to keep her a few weeks and let her go. He then takes her into the house for a bath with her hands tied behind her of course. In the bathroom she discovers the door can't be locked from inside. A neighbor stops by and so the kidnapper has to quickly bind and gag Miranda so she can't raise any alarm.
He lets her go and shows her his vast butterfly collection and later he makes a fine dinner for the pair of them but announces he isn't letting her go. Miranda tries to flee but he chases her down, pins her down and chloroforms her. He carries her back to the bed. Afterward, Miranda has a drink and tries to seduce Freddie, but he turns on her. He ties her up again and drags her struggling through the rain back to the cellar room. Miranda grabs a shovel and cracks the man in the head with a shovel, but he still manages to lock her in the room. To her horror, Miranda realizes the man could very well die with herself trapped in the cellar.
