In this episode the Enterprise is brought down to a planet populated only by small group of children after a mysterious plague wipes out all the adults, or Grupps as the kids call them. Grace Lee Whitney plays Yeoman Janice Rand is is kidnapped by the children after Miri becomes jealous when she spies Captain Kirk holding her after Dr. McCoy discovers a vaccine for the plague. She's briefly seen in custody, in a chair, with a thick rope tied around her. Miri is finally convinced by Kirk to tell him where Janice is being held and he pleads with the kids to let him help them before the plague kills the remnants.
