Briefly, Cassidy Bridges (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) has taken a temp job doing some legal work and goes to investigate a strange noise in the penthouse she's working in as she's talking to her dad, our hero on the phone. He dashes to the location after losing contact with her (as she's attacked, grappled and hand-gagged by a masked robber.) She's found bound and gagged with duct tape, lying on the floor. She's quickly released.
