Jeri Ryan plays officer Sonya Blade who gets knocked out and captured off screen by Kano and this thugs. she's shown hanged by her wrists from chains and handcuffs, with her booted feet bound together as smug gangster Kano enters the room to toy and torment her with a double-bladed knife. He somehow managed to block the video surveillance she was sending to her back-up officers, and then broadcast it later to set a trap. As a massive firefight erupts above, Sonya thrashes, struggles and ultimately pulls her chains free from the ceiling. Sonya unties her feet and makes a dash for the exit.
