Tarzan struggles to escort the survivors of a down airplane to safety, but toward the end of the film, the group runs afoul of hostile natives after they are betrayed by a crooked hunter in their midst, who has agreed to sell them as sacrifices to their lion god. The captives tied together at the waist with a rope and taken away through a secret passage to their village. At the village, the prisoners (among them Betta St. John played by Diana Penrod) are tied to wooden X-crosses, pretty captive Gamage Dean (Yolande Donlan) has her hands tied in front as the hunter wants her for himself. Tarzan sends a message via a drum to tribal chief about the hunter's treachery and also sends Cheetah to light the village on fire. The natives panic as their homes go up in flames and Tarzan makes the rescue.
