After Springfield has become a toxic nightmare and sealed inside an impenetrable dome by the EPA, Homer, Marge, Lisa, Maggie and Bart manage to escape through a backyard sinkhole. After some misadventures in Alaska, Marge and the kids decide to take a train to Seattle to tell the world what's happening only to be re-captured by Russ Cargil and his EPA thugs. Later, Homer launches a suitably ill-fated attempt to rescue the family from an armored transport truck and Bart's antics force the guards to anesthetize the group, who then wake up inside the dome.
