In this episode, a retired Union general is tried for war crimes by ex-Confederates at the Barkley ranch, and so Victoria and Audra Barkley (Barbara Stanwyck & Linda Evans, respectively) are held prisoner in the attic upstairs. Following a brief aborted escape attempt, the women are tied hand and foot by their captors and left alone, and so Victoria get the bright idea to use the lantern to burn through her wrist ropes (as opposed to merely breaking the glass top and using that). After some effort, she reaches the lamp, but accidentally knocks the thing over, starting a fire. The ladies try to extinguish the flames as best they can, but they're rescued by one of their captors.
