Madeleine Dillon (Lois Hall) makes the mistake of letting her emotions get the better of her when the man who may have murdered her father and then set him up to look like a crook comes calling at her house. Tonto steps up to try and save the day, but the baddie pulls a gun and holds it on Madeleine, forcing him to disarm. He forces Madeleine to fetch a rope. Afterward, she and Tonto sit gagged and tied to chairs. the lead baddie turns up, but is also worried that their scheme is up because there's someone in the woods following him. They split up to get the drop on the Ranger, giving Tonto and opportunity to fetch his knife off the floor.
